About Me

I am a potential PhD student of political science focusing on international conflict, authoritarian foreign policy, and great power competition. My research explores how authoritarian regimes and great powers shape the dynamics of diplomacy, global governance, and strategic decision-making. I focus on three interconnected areas: (1) the foreign policy behavior of authoritarian and hybrid regimes during crises; (2) the influence of U.S.–China rivalry on the strategic choices of small and middle powers; and (3) the intersection of global health challenges, migration, and political instability as drivers of international tension and human insecurity.

To address these questions, I adopt a mixed-methods approach that combines qualitative and quantitative tools—including regression analysis, content and thematic analysis, and computational text analysis using NLP and machine learning techniques. My work draws on and contributes to international relations theory, political economy, and global public health.

Born and raised in Dhaka, Bangladesh, I earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Public Administration from the University of Barishal. Motivated by a growing interest in global politics, I began a second Master’s in Political Science at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM), where I currently serve as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and am preparing for a PhD in Political Science for fall 26.

Before joining USM, I held a tenure-track lectureship in Development Studies at Daffodil International University and worked as a researcher and data analyst at several organizations, including BRAC James P. Grant School of Public Health (BRAC JPGSPH), the Centre for Advanced Research in Social Sciences (CARS), and BetterStories.

My research has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as BMC Public Health (Springer Nature), International Journal of Community Well-Being, SN Social Sciences, Society and Culture in South Asia (SAGE), Heliyon (Elsevier), and Small Wars & Insurgencies (Taylor & Francis). I have also contributed book chapters to the Handbook of Migration, International Relations and Security in Asia (Springer Nature) and Soft Power and Diplomatic Strategies in Asia and the Middle East (IGI Global), and regularly write for platforms including The Diplomat, The Geopolitics, and New Age.

My current work is grounded in a commitment to bridging theory and policy, particularly around questions of strategic behavior, regime type, and human security in the Global South.
